Bashaku Copper Concentrator Project in Kazakhstan is a world-class mine project designed and managed in accordance with European and American standards. The project is located in the western part of the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan, about 230 kilometres away from the capital city of Astana, with a relatively well-developed infrastructure. The sulfide ore processing plant of Bashaku copper mine has a capacity of 25 million tonnes/year and the clay ore processing plant has a capacity of 5 million tonnes/year, totalling 30 million tonnes/year. Kazakh Copper PLC is the largest copper producer in Kazakhstan and a world-renowned non-ferrous metal producer, with 12 mines, 2 processing plants, 2 copper smelters, 2 coal mines and 3 auxiliary power plants. Kazakhstan Copper PLC owns 4 mines and 3 concentrators in the Eastern Kazakhstan region, as well as mines in Bozshakoli, Aktogay, Koksai and Kyrgyz Bauzemchak. The project adopts the European and American project management model with strict control of construction procedures and systems. At the beginning of the project, we also encountered a lot of challenges, including the strict management system of the Kazakh side; on the day we arrived at the project site, the temperature on site was as low as minus 20 degrees Celsius; at the coldest point of time, the temperature in the region could reach minus 45 degrees Celsius, and the cold winds were rampant, which had a great impact on the construction work. With an annual ore processing capacity of 25 million tonnes, the Bashaku Sulphide Ore Plant is a world-class project and is currently the largest mining project in Kazakhstan. The commissioning of this project will double the capacity of copper in Kazakhstan in the future. The amount of steel used is 8,046.83 tons.
