Botswana Morupule B 4150 MW CFB Thermal power plant.
Botswana MORUPULE B 4X150MW coal-fired power station is a national key project built by the State of Botswana in order to meet the supply of domestic power demand and reduce the dependence on imported power from neighboring countries. The construction site of the project is located 5 kilometers from the town of Platapu in the State of Botswana and 2 kilometers from the MORUPULE coal mine. The distance from the capital Gaborone to the power plant is about 280 kilometers.
The project has high technical requirements and tight schedule. The plant is equipped with four 520t/h CFB boilers and four 150MW condensing direct air-cooled steam turbine generator sets. The power output of the plant will be fed into the Botswana national grid through a 400kV switchyard. This project is the first time for Chinese enterprises to enter the power market of Botswana, and it is also the largest power station project to be built in the country so far, and the government of Botswana and the Chinese Embassy in Botswana have attached great importance to this project. on December 25, 2011, the backward transmission of electricity from the Botswana National Grid to the station transformer of Morupule B Coal-fired Power Station was successful, which marks the important period for the project to enter into the full-scale commissioning stage. The project has entered into the commissioning phase.
