Trinidad National Arts Center
The National Center for the Performing Arts of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is located in the southern tip of the Caribbean Sea in North and Central America, consisting of two Caribbean islands in the Lesser Antilles, with the capital city of Port of Spain located on the island of Trinidad, which is mainly used for the performance of the national treasure of the Teto art - steel drumming, teaching and artistic training, and contains a theater, theater, administration, historical information, research exhibitions, shopping malls, hotels and other functions. Project Overview:
The design takes full account of the characteristics of local national culture and art and the requirements of performance, teaching and art training of art venues, and adopts the architectural vocabulary endowed with regional and national characteristics to create a new architectural style. The project site area is 39,860m2, with a total construction area of 25,550m2, of which 22,126m2 above ground and 3,424m2 below ground, consisting of a 1,240-seat national professional theater and an affiliated high-star hotel with 52 guest rooms to form the main function; the Academy of Performing Arts, as the cradle of the music and art of the city, serves as the third functional unit. The theater and the hotel are 4 floors, and the Academy of Performing Arts is 3 floors.
The shape of the building is spread out and the national flower of Trinidad and Tobago is echoed, the texture of the building facade is derived from the association of steel drums and musical instruments, and the metal texture of the arts center is like an artistic marvel blossoming in the Caribbean Sea, which exudes a unique artistic expressive power. The overall layout of the center is divided into 3 zones in accordance with the architectural form of the building. The theater part is placed on the east side of the base, the main building is located on the pedestal, magnificent; the theater supporting hotel facilities are located on the northwest side of the base, constituting the north side of the petals, the Performing Arts Academy is located in the southwest side of the building complex, and the main entrance is located on the south side of the base.
