Large Heavy Metals Steel-framed Power Station Negeria Ogun Gas Combined Cycle Power Station
Project Overview:
The Ogun 750 MW Combined Cycle Combustion Turbine Power Station is located 15 kilometres east of the town of Papalando in Ogun State of the Federation of Nigeria. The construction of the power station was divided into two phases. The first phase was completed in 2007 with an investment of US$160 million and an annual generating capacity of 335 MW. The second phase of the project invested 450 million U.S. dollars, completed in March 2014, with an annual generating capacity of 750 megawatts, and was constructed by Shandong Electric Construction Company III in the form of EPC turnkey.
According to the introduction, the gas-fired power station is one of the power privatisation projects in Nigeria, and the power generation capacity of the two phases of the power station is equivalent to one-sixth of the national power generation capacity of Nigeria.
The commissioning of Ogun Combined Cycle Power Station has greatly alleviated the tension of power supply in Nigeria, and he expressed his gratitude to all the personnel of Shandong Electricity Construction Company III who were involved in the construction and operation of the power station. He said that power privatisation has brought vitality to the Nigerian power market, and Nigeria is expected to complete the power privatisation reform in the next two years. he said that the Nigerian government has invested 8.26 billion US dollars in the construction of the National Integrated Power Project of Nigeria.
In recent years, CECC has undertaken numerous hydropower and thermal power projects in Nigeria, among which, the Zungeru Hydropower Station with a total installed capacity of 700,000 kilowatts has been progressing well since the start of construction in May 2013, and the Papalando Phase I and Phase II power stations, Omotosho Phase II 4x125 megawatts gas turbine power station, and Ogun 6x125 megawatts gas turbine power station have been connected to the grid to generate electricity, which have effectively alleviated the country's electricity tension situation, he said. These power stations have effectively alleviated the country's power tension and are of great significance in optimising the power structure, promoting energy conservation and emission reduction, and developing a low-carbon economy.
